The West Wild Woods is a storytelling show about Scotland’s Rainforest. Toured throughout Argyll in summer & autumn 2025 and performed as part of the International Scottish Storytelling Festival 2025.
The show blends Scottish folklore with recent histories of deforestation and conservation efforts.
Seed funding for research and development came from Tasgardh, with Creative Scotland funding a full rural tour throughout Argyll. Performed at community woodlands (Bute Forest, Glenan Woods, Cormonachon Woods) and at Primary Schools and Community Hubs across Argyll & Bute.

"A rich learning experience for children from Early Years through to Second Level. Learners enjoyed the interactive nature of the experience and Luke's amazing acting skills really brought books and stories to life. Even our most reluctant readers and listeners reported having had a 'brilliant time'!"

"I really liked how cozy the story wagon felt, it was like a den where we heard great stories" - Pupil
"incredibly engaging...within a few minutes, you had the children eating out of the palm of your hand. They completely bought in to the story and the characters you created. The gift of the tree to plant at the end was a lovely touch...our very own bit of rainforest. Thank you."
"Luke showed adaptability to ensure he engaged each pupil in a way that made the Story Wagon personal and meaningful."
"Luke ran a fantastic workshop with the class. The children were very engaged and hanging off his every word! They were then excited to become story tellers themselves."
"The next day, the children were keen to tell the stories to a child who had been absent. I encouraged the children to write the story down, so that it could be shared with others. This child is a reluctant writer, but was eager to type his story out and was able to remember all the parts. This is fantastic was to support the development of literacy!"
"Great session with Luke. He made the storytelling very engaging and the pupils loved it. Perfect amount of time for the session"
